Dr Poonam Bagga, MBBS, DO, FRCS(Edin.), FRCOphth(London), PGCME, Level VII Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring(UEL), MDCH, BSCH (Assoc)

I am a consultant ophthalmic surgeon and being a scientist have practised evidence-based medicine for over 25 years. Treating patients with chronic diseases has lead me to the realisation that medical interventions are not the whole solution to manage the disease process. I have been increasingly impressed by the power of the mind — not only when dealing with illness, but in daily life too. To explore this further, I studied the Medical Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and am now a registered member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis. I have meditated since 1994 and incorporating self-hypnosis and mindfulness in my daily practice has had a positive impact on the course of my life. I am now passionate about both these techniques and o"er these to my clients as additional self-empowerment tools towards achieving optimal life outcomes in health and dis-ease.

Alpana Sokhey Bose BSc, MBBS, MRCP, MDCH, BSCH (Assoc)

I graduated from Guys', Kings' and St Thomas' Hospital Medical & Dental Schools in 2000 with a medical degree as well as an intercalated BSc in Immunology and became a member of The Royal College of Physicians in 2003. Since then I have worked as a junior doctor in many hospitals in a diverse range of specialties. I am currently a Psychiatry trainee based in Swindon. After I completing the Medical Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis from the The London College of Clinical Hypnosis I initiated the Hypnosis Aided Rehabilitation Therapy programme for the management of chronic pain at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. I am also a member of the Executive Committee as Medical O#cer for The British Society of Clinical Hypnosis and The London College of Clinical Hypnosis. I passionately believe that our unconscious beliefs dictate not only how we feel, think and behave but also our physiology. I have found hypnotherapy to be an incredible tool that enables an inner transformation that creates health and well-being.

I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1990, gained essential experience in all areas of Physiotherapy and went on to become a Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy Practitioner with The McKenzie Institute, specialising in the treatment and prevention of conditions of neuromusculoskeletal and biomechanical origin. Years of working with the physical body lead me to a fascination in the involvement of the mind in pain and disability and how we may utilise this to assist treatment, enhance rehabilitation and stimulate recovery. Subsequently achieving the Medical Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy has enabled me to realise the scope and power of the mind in all areas of wellbeing and to use this to the benefit of patients.
